FACULTY PETITION
TO THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES
OF GALLAUDET UNIVERSITY
April 27, 2006

Whereas, the undersigned faculty members at Gallaudet University cherish diversity and respect for all individuals and groups on campus and do not believe that diversity is dead at Gallaudet,

Whereas, we acknowledge and thank Dr. Glenn Anderson for his 10+ years of service to Gallaudet University as Chairman of the Board of Trustees,

Whereas, we note that Dr. Glenn Anderson was one of the six finalists for the office of President of Gallaudet University,

Whereas we still acknowledge some concerns regarding the selection process for the next President of Gallaudet University,

Whereas we support the Presidential Search Committee and the Board of Trustees in their challenging decision to name the next President of Gallaudet University,

We, the undersigned, do not support the Resolution passed at the General Faculty meeting on April 24, 2006 in which a small number of faculty members (approximately 35) voted their support of the resolution,

We respectfully request that the Search Committee and the Board of Trustees proceed with the search for the next President of Gallaudet University, ensuring that hiring practices set forth by EEO are followed.
